Imprisoned couple wed in Cretan jail
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Two prisoners were united with their wedding bonds on Monday in the prisons of Agia on Crete.
The ceremony was held at the church within the detention facility by Father Stylianos, who also held the first Orthodox marriage in the prisons of Agia.
According to zarpanews.gr, the newlyweds are of Georgian descent, and the ceremony was followed by a rich meal with a traditional Georgian pork dish, which they distributed to all the prisoners and prison staff, as well as traditional Georgian sweets.
It should be noted that before the first Christian marriage in the prisons of Agia, in June 2015 a prisoner and his lawyes were married with a civil ceremony in the same prisons.
