The government does not confirm the information on the resignation of Yiannis Mouzalas from the Ministry of Migration Policy.
However, this information cropped up after a general attack on Mr Mouzalas at Monday's session of the SYRIZA Political Secretariat by cadreses who belong to the "53" group - and not only - on the situation on the islands and on the fact that a large number of migrants are trapped there.
Yannis Mouzalas, according to information, has suggested that he has tendered his resignation to the prime minister's office as he intends to claim the position of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. This position has been proposed by Athens.
According to information by 15 November, a first short list will be created with those claiming the position and the final selection will be made in March 2018.
Information from iefimerida.gr indicates that Mr. Mouzalasa wants to run some kind of campaign all over Europe to promote his candidacy, and probably this will make it difficult for him to maintain his post at the ministry.
However, the PM'soffice, noted that there is no question of Mr Mouzalaa resigning at the moment.
Indeed, government sources told the Athenian-Macedonian Agency that "there is no issue of the resignation of Minister of Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas".
