Members of the European Parliament on Wednesday approved an EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) aid worth 4.5 million euros towards damage reconstruction in western Crete, which was struck by severe weather in February.

Greek Cypriots who claim they were tortured by colonial forces when they were members of a guerrilla group in the 1950s are seeking damages from the British government.

Serious damage was caused by Monday's severe weather, which hit the Tri-State area beginning in the afternoon hours.
