Milos airport closes down because of single staff illness
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Chaos broke out at Milos airport because there is no one to replace the employee who had to take a leave of absence for a few days, due to a back ache problem.
On August 20th, flights from the island of Milos to Athens were cancelled, because the only air traffic controller of the airport, suffered low back pain and was transferred to Milos hospital.
According to reports, the airport employee suffered from lumbago and it was impossible for him to work and as a result the flights were cancelled. Airport officials were waiting for hours for an air traffic controller to arrive from Athens to replace the employee, whose problem seems to be quite heavy. Many tourists were supposed to be on the flight to Athens in order to catch connection flights to their homes abroad.
