SZ: Tsipras and Varoufakis solely responsible for Greek recession
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Süddeutsche Zeitung is directly challenging the IMF forecasts for the Greek growth rate over the next two years, noting that they are based on outdated financial information.
The Munich newspaper believes that "one can aptly and rightly argue whether the strategy followed so far to overcome the eurokrisis was proper."
However, as the author points out, the sole responsibility for the depreciation of Greece through recession is borne by Alexis Tsipras and Yanis Varoufakis. Varoufakis is even blamed for adopting a misleading attitude. "Wherever Varoufakis appeared through the weekend during the Spring IMF meeting and the World Bank confusion, sometimes, even, indignation prevailed."
