Prosecutor Opens Case against Pangalos
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Statements by former foreign minister Theodoros Pangalos concerning wiretapping US ambassadors in Athens and Ankara by Greek services have caused the intervention of the prosecutor, who ordered a preliminary inquiry into the case.
The trigger was a suit tendered against Mr, Pangalos by lawyer Agis Tatsis. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Tatsis is asking for the prosecution of Theodoros Pangalos for crimes including exposing the country to retaliation, and exposing state secrets.
In his deposition, Mr. Tatsis noted that irrespective of whether the claims were true, or not, they still constitute a penal infringement.
