Tsipras, Putin to discuss Greek economy, Turkish Stream

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will discuss the situation in Greece and the progress made in the implementation of the gas pipeline that will pass through Greek territory during their meeting in St Petersburg on Friday, Putin's main foreign policy adviser said on Wednesday.

Yuri Ushakov said Greece’s economic situation is “one of the main issues” and that Tsipras will probably brief Putin on relations with Germany and the leadership of the EU.

Asked whether Russia will provide economic assistance to Greece, Ushakov said the meeting between the two leaders will take place on the sidelines of the economic conference and “various issues will be discussed.”

He also noted that the main issue in bilateral talks on Friday will be the Turkish Stream pipeline project.
