First opinion poll on upcoming elections

A first opinion poll after snap elections were called appeared showing ruling SYRIZA with a lead of two percentage points over main opposition New Democracy party, with 24 percent to 22 percent.
The poll was conducted for the firm Interview and commissioned by local television channel Vergina.
Results from the poll show no less than nine political parties entering Parliament after the elections, garnering, that is the minimum three percent of the general vote necessary to enter Greek parliament.
The newly formed Popular Unity party, the left-wing breakaway from SYRIZA, appears favored by 4.5 percent of respondents.
Neo-nazi Golden Dawn posts 6 percent; centrist Potami 5.5; the Communist Party 4.5; PASOK, also at 4.5 percent, the same for the Popular Unity party; the Center Union party with 4 percent and the current coalition party, the Independent Greeks’ (AN.EL) barely holding on to 3 percent, the cut-off point.
The “undecided” vote stands at 15 percent of respondents; 5 percent of respondents favored another political party.
