Athens in high security ring for Polytechnic uprising anniversary

The Athens metro stations Syntagma, Evangelismos, and Megaro Moussikis on Tuesday will be closed after 2.30 pm for security reasons, by order of the police, due to the November 17 anniversary commemorating the 1973 student uprising at the Athens Polytechnic, against a military junta
About 6,000 policemen will be deployed around the Greek capital as part of the police force's stringent security measures that have been announced ahead of the anniversary.
The city has beefed up security around embassies, public buildings and organizations that are potential targets, following the terrorist attacks in Paris.
The anniversary will conclude with the annual march towards the American embassy.
