Head of public children's hospital arrested for bribe solicitation

Haris Tobouloglou, head of one of the country's largest public children's hospitals has been arrested after getting caught red handed receiving a 25,000 euro bribe.

The president of public children's hospital Aglaia Kyriakou, Haris Tobouloglou has been arrested on charges of bribery after a sting operation by police.

Tobologlou seems to have asked for 25,000 euros in order to extend a service related contract between the hospital and a private firm. At a rendevzous he was handed the money in marked bills and was arrested.

Police of the anti-extortion squad have taken Tobouloglou to police headquarters.

Tobouloglou was a candidate for parliament with New Democracy in the elections of 1996 and 2004 for the second district of Athens, garnering a significant number of votes (26,000 and 27,000), and getting the most votes in the municipalities of Nea Philadelphia and Nea Halkidona.

In municipal elections of 1986, 1990, and 1998 he got the most votes in the Nea Halkidona municipality, from all candidate counselors.

Between 1989 and 1993 he was vice president of the Aglaia Kyriakou hospital, coming back to the hospital as a member of the board. In September 2012 he became president of the hospital.
