The Athens University of Economics and Business occupies one of the top positions of universities worldwide according to the International Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai).
One of the most authoritative lists in the world, which this year ranked more than 4,000 higher education institutions in 52 scientific fields, has highlighted the Athenian university among positions 151-200 worldwide in the field of Social Sciences.
In particular, in the field of Economics, it is found among other university institutes such as the Freie University in Berlin, Heidelberg, Queen Mary in London, the Technological University of Munich, University College London, University of Strathclyde, and University of Vienna.
Rankings were based on Web of Science, such as the number of publications, citations, international collaborations, publications in high-quality scientific journals, as well as the number of university staff who received some important scientific prize.
"The international recognition enjoyed by the Athens University of Economics and Business once again is the result of many years of effort by its members, often in particularly difficult circumstances," the Rector said.
He added that "This recognition encourages all of us to continue this effort. The international good reputation of Greek universities is a spiritual chapter for the country and a springboard for its progress ".
