Spokesperson Tzanakopoulos reiterates government paranoia sideskirting economy, unemployment, and labor issues

"It is strange that the issues that [New Democracy leader Kyriakos] Mitsotakis chooses to place at the top of his agenda are also the top stories in the central newscasts of major television stations. I do not consider this a coincidence," Tzanakopoulos said.
In the interview, running under the headline "ND and certain media functioning as scandal manufacturers", Tzanakopoulos accused Mitsotakis of attempting to create a diversion by inventing "supposed interventions in Greek justice."
One such "manufactured scandal," according to the spokesman was the affair involving Defence Minister Panos Kammenos and his discussions with a convict in prison regarding the Noor1 drug ship case. "Could the real scandal and essense of the case be the possibility of a cover-up of political responsibility that some may have for the transportation of the largest quantity of heroin ever seized in Europe? That is the real issue and the silence from all sides is deafening," Tzanakopoulos commented.
The reason for this collaboration, according to the government spokesman, was "simple and has to do with the very many fields in which the government has changed the practices of the past that created a political, economic and media power complex that is now called into doubt."
In order for the political and economic elite of the country to be attacking the government with such vigour, he added, "we must be doing something right".
