- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The European Commission announced on Thursday it is helping Albania tackle forest fires by funding, through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the dispatching of two firefighting aircraft from Greece.
Announcing the initiative, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides welcomed Greece's generous help towards Albania, noting it is a "very concrete example of European solidarity" provided by the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism.
