Greek shipping tycoon and Olympiaκos football club owner Vangelis Marinakis officially acquired a 22.11 percent stake in private TV station Mega on Wednesday, the company operating the broadcaster, Teletypos SA, announced in a press release at the Athens stock exchange.
According to the press release, Marinakis' company Alter Ego bought 22,287,362 stocks in the company, corresponding to a 22.11 percent stake.
In May, Alter Ego submitted the largest bid for the acquisition of struggling Lambrakis Press Group (DOL)- which owned the 22.11 stake in Mega- totaling 22.89 million euros.
The deal was ratified by Greek first-instance court in July after the auction procedure to sell the company was challenged by Dimera, a firm representing the interests of businessman Ivan Savvidis, which had submitted the lowest bid.
