Faliro beaches re-open after oil-spill clean up

Saronic Gulf beaches in Paleo Faliro that had been polluted by oil from the sinking of the tanker "Agia Zoni II" were on Tuesday delivered for use by the public, after a clean up was completed.
The re-opening of the beaches was held in the presence of Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis, the mayor of Paleo Faliro Dionyssis Hatzidakis, Deputy Shipping Minister Nektarios Santorinios and other officials.
The event took place in the area of Flisvos.
The next batch of beaches in the Piraiki area will be delivered on Thursday, after operations to clean the shore cleaning have been completed.
The situation in Salamina has also improved, according to the coordinating body.
