Varoufakis: I called Tsipras an idiot

Former finance minister Yiannis Varoufakis misses no opportunity to let loose barbs against prime minister Alexis Tsipras.

This he did, once again, in an interview with Parapolitika 90.1 FM and Andreas Mazarakis, claiming that he called the prime minister an "idiot", while his targets also included Euclid Tsaklottos and Giorgos Houliarakis.

The former minister argues in an interview that he called Alexis Tsipras stupid when he revealed the agreement for primary surpluses of 3.5%.

"I told him " are you a total idiot, what did they give you in return?" and Tsipras replied, "Oh, I was stupid, okay, we'll take it back," said Varoufakis. And he hastened to add that he actually used a much tougher word than "idiot" to characterize Tsipras.

"I do not know when the Tsipras decided to capitulate," he said. And he noted that he had not told the Eurogroup a word that the prime minister did not agree with.

At the same time, Yannis Varoufakis said again that Alexis Tsipras did not want to win the referendum. As he stressed, the SYRIZA government also did not want to. "I did not think we would win, but I wanted it. Tsipras did not want us to reach 51%," he said.

On the occasion of the statement of former Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem that "with Tsipras and Tsakalotos it's all easier", Yannis Varoufakis attacked his replacement at the Ministry of Finance, Euclid Tsakalotos.

"At the time of the negotiation one completes the other. Now I no longer recognize him. He once used to mouth off to Scheuble. He wasn't  a "yes man." He became one on July 6th. Ehe case of EuclidI hurts me, because I saw his mutation. I will never support what Euclid said after July 6," he said.

Continuing the shots in the SYRIZA government, Mr Varoufakis did not "forget" Giorgos Houliarakis, whom he described as the trustee of the troika. "This is clear. He did not work for me, nor for my ministry," he added.

And the all-out attack on SYRIZA continued in the same interview, with Yannis Varoufakis arguing that the "Thessaloniki program" was horrible. Indeed, as he said, when he read it, he wanted to leave SYRIZA.

"When I read the" Thessaloniki program," since we had agreed that any SYRIZA program would have to be seen by me, since they wanted my help - they didn't even ask my advice, I saw it online - I wondered . Not because the targets were bad, but as to why the means by which the goals were achieved were of less value than the paper they were written on. I was so angry that I stayed up all night and wrote a fiery article. And I thought this was my divorce with SYRIZA. And then, when they contacted me again and asked me to go talk, they told me "the party is one thing and the government program is another. Anyway, you are not SYRIZA", said Yannis Varoufakis.

For the second time, Mr Varoufakis confirmed that he had been recording all the Eurogroup meetings. "At these meetings the future of Europe is judged. Is it possible that there are no minutes?" He wondered.
