US ambassador to Athens expresses fear of "acccident" in the Aegean

US ambassador to Athens Geoffrey Pyatt expressed fears of an "accident" in the Aegean, between Greece and Turkey.

The statements of the American ambassador to Athens come in the wake of the new tension caused near the Imia islets, on Sunday, when Greek defense minister Panos Kammenos was in the area to throw a wreath in memory of the fallen Greek officers, 22 years after the 1996 crisis.

"My concern, my fear, is the accident," said Pyatt, in an interview given to the "Istories" show on SKAI TV, which will be broadcast on Tuesday, half an hour after midnight.

"As long as you have these lethal complex military systems operating close to each other, there is always a terrible risk of an accident, which of course will cause great complications in your relationship," the US Ambassador said.
