Kite string snaps power line pole
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
An unbelievable incident occurred on Clean Monday in the coastal park located between the neighborhoods of Roitika and Vrachneika, in Patras, Greece's third largest city.
Young and old had gathered there to fly kites, as is tradition on Clean Monday, and everything was unfolding uneventfuly when the string from a kite snagged on a power line.
The tugs of the kite-holder to pull the twine free ande "release" the kite were enough to break the iron pole in a few seconds. Thankfully, there were no injuries, as many children and adults were present. Some of those there, seeing the pole tilting, began to shout to the people nearby.
As can be seen in photos posted by someone there, the pole was cut off from its base, while it is obvious that posed a public hazard, as the post and the base were rusty.
