Greek tank serves wine from the barrel
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
There are many ways to serve wine, but employing a battle tank to do so has to be a first.
That is exactly what the crew of a Greek Leopard 2A6 HEL did on occasion of the celebration of the patron Saint George of the army at the Triantafyllidis military camp in Ksanthi, in northern Greece. They placed a glass of wine on the end of the main gun of the tank and “served” it to the commander in chief, G, Kampas.
In a display of the tank's stabilization mechanism, designed to keep the gun on target as the tank traverses rough terrain, the tank rolled towards the attending officers and swing ing the turret "offered" the glass of chilled white wine.
