Kammenos makes Bouboulina a vice admiral 193 years after death

The honorary title of Rear Admiral bestowed on the heroine of the Greek War of Independence Laskarina Bouboulina (assassinated in 1825), by defense minister Panos Kammenos, produced mirth and scathing comments on social media.

As soon as the news for this decision was released, Twitter users rushed to suggest to Panos Kammenos other promotions or appointments. For example, Athanasios Diakos becomes at least archimandrite, Theodoros Kolokotronis, the head of Army General Staff and Andreas Miaoulis, rector of the University of the Aegean.

Of course there are those who are worried that Boulboulina will claim back pay in arrears, while her descendants will ask for their portion of her pension!

Read some of the posts on Twitter:

Kolokotronis (head of the Greek revolutionaries, jailed in 1825 and again in 1831) should be released from jail, through the Paraskevopoulos law, so things can finally be set right.

Let's assume that Bouboulina will want her pay in arrears for her rank for the nearly two hundred years that they delayed giving it to her! She must be a  relative of some minister, otherwise there is no explanation.

Bishop Germanos (another revolutionary hero) should be promoted to archbishop

Recourse to the Council of State for Miaoulis and Kanaris

Strike back from [education minister] Gavroglou for the honorary rank bestowed on Bouboulina. He proposes Archimedes of Syracuse for an Honorary Doctorate from the Polytechnic.

Panos's strategic goal is to exterminate the Turks through much laughter.

The defense minister has achieved the impossible. He managed to make the heroes of the Revolution of '21 a one-liner.
