Tsipras to visit US in September

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will visit the United States, for the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The itinerary of the Prime Minister's and the mission that will accompany him is still under consideration and next week is expected to speed up further preparations.

The only thing that is certain is that Mr. Tsipras will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, who will also have his own meetings and contacts.

Probable meeting with Trump

Regarding the agenda of the meetings, and in particular the possibility of a Greek Prime Minister and American President Trump, diplomatic circles commented to press sources that "it is not unlikely".

As for the issues that are expected to monopolize interest, these will focus on developments in the wider region due to the deteriorating US-Turkey relations, but also the diplomatic maneuvers of Turkish president Erdogan, after the release of the two Greek servicemen. The prospect of the implementation of the Athens and Skopje agreement as well as the issues of the economy in the wake of the end of the Memorandum will also be discussed.

Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) with American focus

This year's TIF will be a precursor to business contacts. TIF will open its gates on September 8 and the honored country will be the USA. Major corporations such as Microsoft, Google, Hewlett Packard and Coca Cola will have a strong presence.

US Treasury Secretary Wilborn Ross will attend TIF. As for the much-discussed visit by Vice-President Pence, who will not come to Greece, as many expected, sources say that "this was never announced".
