Greek Cables and Fulgor awarded two projects for the submarine link between Crete and Peloponnese

A contract valued at approximately 140 million euros was entrusted to Fulgor by power authority ADMIE, as Cenergy Holdings said in a statement today.

The contract concerns the supply and installation of one of the two submarine cables for the connection of Crete with the national power transmission network in the Peloponnese, as well as all the necessary land cables for the connection of submarine cables with the national power transmission network of the Peloponnese (Group A).

ADMIE has also awarded to Hellenic Cables a contract worth approximately 41 million euros for the supply and installation of the necessary land cables for the connection of the two submarine cables to the Crete transmission network in the Chania region (Group C).

The assignment to Fulgor concerns the design and production of 135 km of 150kV underwater cable and 87 km of 150 kV terrestrial cables, the installation of cables at underwater depths of up to 950 meters, the protection of cables at underwater depths of up to 100 meters and their connection to the points in South Peloponnese and Crete.

Correspondingly, the assignment to Hellenic Cables concerns the design and production of 204 km of 150 kV terrestrial cables and their installation along the land route from the submarine cable entry points in Crete to the High Voltage substation in Chania.

Both projects will be completed within 22 months of signing the relevant contracts.

The submarine cables will be built at Fulgor's factory in Sousaki, Corinth, where state of the art equipment makes it possible to produce and test long, continuous lengths of the world's longest underwater cables. Terrestrial cables will be built at the Greek Cables plant in Thebes.

"The assignment of this important project highlights the leading position of Greek Cables and its Fulgor subsidiary, both in the submarine cable industry and in the global energy industry in general.
