Council of State upholds constitutionality of same sex cohabitation agreement

The Council of State has ruled as constitutional and in line with European law legislation extending the cohabitation agreement to same sex couples and rejected as unjustified a call from some church leaders to ban the law.
The court said that the private life of people, including their sexual preference, is a basic part of their character and must be respected in a democratic society.
