Kammenos: Tsipras knew of Plan B, but did not approve it

Defense Minister Panos Kammenos maintained, on Monday, referring to Plan B for FYROM, which he voiced in the US, that Alexis Tsipras knew of it but did not approve it, while reiterating that they did not speak on the phone.

Specifically, Mr. Kammenos speaking to ERT1 said: "My Prime Minister knows my proposal but has not approved it. It would be an alternative if the Prespa Agreement did not proceed. I made a provisional proposal if there is no solution in Skopje. "

At the same time, he added that "I went [to the US] as the National Defense Minister. As far as national defense issues are concerned, they had all been agreed on. But as a government partner, once I refused this agreement as I was obliged to, I made a proposal. Do PASOK and ND have a proposal? "

Earlier, ANEL's chairman argued that the prime minister had talks on defense issues: "The Minister of Defense does not sit and he does wage plans at his desk, everything goes through the KYSEA."

Referring to Plan B, Panos Kammenos said: "From the very first moment we voiced our refusal to the name of "Macedonia "and we also clarified it to the Prime Minister. We do not accept giving the name. Despite our position and without changing it, we did not prevent the government from conducting a dialogue in order to proceed with a solution to the issue. We never agreed with the Prespa Agreement. It is the official position of the Foreign Minister and the government and we said that as a government partner we would not support it ".

And he went on: "I went to the State Department as an Defense Minister and after we resolved the defense issues, I have an obligation as a government partner to explain why I do not agree with the Prespa Agreement. The position of the government is the Prespa Agreement as expressed by the Foreign Minister, but I will not vote for it. 70% of FYROM does not want the deal.

In politics you can not be in denial, and when you are with a partner in the country, after my own refusal, I had to make my own proposal. My Prime Minister knows my proposal but has not approved it. It would be an alternative if the Prespa Agreement did not proceed. I made a temporary proposal if there is no solution in Skopje.

I have represented government policy in the field of Defense. I clarified that this position is the position of my party and I will not vote for the agreement if it comes, which I believe will not come. I have honestly said that the government is officially for the Prespa agreement."

Earlier, Panos Kammenos spoke about the agreement with the US on military bases in Greece. He made it clear that no new bases would be created, just bases that the United States will use in the context its participation in NATO.

Specifically, Mr. Kammenos said: "With the Prime Minister we always come together. We were together for three common purposes:

Exit from Memoranda.
The fight against corruption and interdependence that abolished democratic institutions in the country.
The development of the country.
