Turkey continues to not recogize Greek airspace

Ankara reinstated its claims in the Aegean aftera Greek statement that Turkey has filed a request for entry into the national airspace of Greece, for the first time ever.
Greece's landmark position for six nautical miles has been restored by the Foreign Ministry's announcement. The reason was what Panos Kammenos said on Thursday, in Parliament, during the debate on the retroactive back pay owed to officers, in the House. Kammenos noted that Turkey filed a request for entry into the national airspace of Greece, for the first time, since uip to this day they prefer to violate the Greek FIR and not to tender flight plans.
Hami Aksoi, the spokesman for the press, said that Turkey naturally recognizes the six miles of airspace of Greece and that it requests clearances for flights in accordance with international rules and conventions for flights to and over Greece.
The announcement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry is as follows:
"As is well known, that every State has to request clearance for the civil and military flights to use the airspace of another State. It goes without saying Turkey recognizes the six nautical miles of national airspace of Greece and requests clearance in accordance with international customs and rules for ferry/transfer flights to and over Greece. This is not a new practice. "
It should be noted that Greece has designated its airspace at 10 nautical miles by a Presidential Decree of 1931 for air navigation and airspace policing, and that Turkey has not challenged this decree for decades since the first violations began in 1975.
