Public servants' salaries and pensions take up 61% of taxes

The figures in the Budget, if one looks a little closer, show that wages and pensions "eat up" as much as 61% of taxes and 53% of total state proceeds!

Employee benefits, commonly payroll costs of the state, amounted to 13,527 billion euros, up by € 1,002 billion compared to the Medium Term target, mainly due to the payment of funds for staff of different categories of special wages.

Additional salary is estimated at € 1,493 million. Only a pittance is left for education or the general improvement of public services provided.
