PPC earmarks defunct power plant as movie studio

The PPC has earmarked all the facilities of the Ptolemaida Steam Power Plant to become cinema studios where TV and film productions will take place, the president of the company, Manolis Panagiotakis, pointed out from Ptolemaida.

It is the country's first steam-powered station built in 1954, and its four units have been shut down for over a decade. He explained that "the plan is in the knowledge of the government and the competent minister of Mr Kretsos", he expressed the hope that he would have the support of the regional authorities and that the action would create jobs in a field very specific to the characteristics of the region which will boost the area. He did not exclude the possibility that, apart from this disposal of the installations, PPC would participate in the different investment schemes that will emerge.

He recalled that the company has long since allocated 4,700 acres to the Ministry of Rural Development to develop a standard crop of aromatic plants in the area for young or old farmers. "We are not alone with the ministry," noted Panagiotakis, adding that "we are in contact with a major Greek company specializing in aromatic plants in order to check the suitability of the land and to establish the scope for cooperation for the development of cultivation towards the benefit of the region's growers. "

Finally, PPC announced that it will adopt a Ptolemaida volleyball team with the aim of creating infrastructure that will contribute to the establishment of the sport with purely professional characteristics and its gradual reinforcement in order to become a protagonist in the First National Championship. .
