Greece ranks fourth internationally (after Honduras, Italy and Germany) in terms of the contribution of photovoltaics to the total demand for electricity, according to the figures of the Association of Photovoltaic Companies.
Specifically, in 2018 photovoltaics covered 7 percent of the country's electricity needs, at the same level as 2017. New power units of 41 megawatts were installed last year, bringing the total installed photovoltaic power to 2,664 megawatts.
Investment interest for self-production systems with an energy offsetting remained at high levels, with 348 units installed with a power of 7.2 MW, up from 360 units with a power of 6.4 MW in 2017.
