Mayoral candidate places map showing parts of Greece, Syria, Iraq and Cyprus as Turkish

A provocative "map", which clearly shows the beliefs and aspirations of the nostalgists of the Ottoman Empire, appeared in a park a few days ago, in the city of Afion Karahisar, central Turkey.

The map, bearing the official seal of Emirdağ, was placed by candidate mayor of the city, Ugur Serdar Kargic, who is a member of the MHP (Party of Nationalist Movement).

On the very visible sign that is placed on the street, Thrace, Cyprus and the Aegean islands, as well as Syrian and northern Iraq, are portrayed as belonging to Turkey.

It should be noted that the park was named after Alparslan Turkes, a Turkish nationalist politician who in 1945 was prosecuted for racist and fascist crimes, and in 1960 was actively involved in the military coup that "overthrew" Adnan Menderes. Alparsal was considered to be the leader of the Gray Wolves.

According to the SKAI correspondent in Turkey, Manolis Kostidis, the images of the provocative map were taken by a Turkish citizen who was disturbed by the spectacle and wanted to inform the Greek side.
