Hellenic Coast Guard gets 3 ships with FRONTEX aid

The cooperation of the Greek government and the European Border and FRONTEX, which, although at first experienced a number of difficulties, has been sailing in "calm waters" and has found a common ground of cooperation during the peak of the refugee drama.
As the culmination of this kind of co-operation, Greece is strengthening its maritime surveillance with three new ships to be built in Italy in an agreement totaling 42m euros. Although this investment would be "frivolous" for the Greek budget, construction costs will be covered by Frontex by 90%.
In return for this donation to the Greek state, the agreement between the two sides is that Frontex will use these vessels in missions that are not related to Greece for four months a year, and for the rest of the time the vessels will be transferred to "ownership" of the Greek coastguard.
