A contract for the acquisition of 15 high-speed patrol boats, with an option for adding three more at a total cost 33,780,000 euros, was signed on Wednesday by Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis and respresentatives of the contractor firms "F B Design S.R.L" and "Electronica Marittima S.R.L".
The delivery of the vessels will start in October 2020 and will be completed in the second half of 2023.
The project is funded by two separate financing instruments, the Operational Programme for Fisheries and Maritime 2014-2020 and by the EU Internal Security Fund's special action for equipping the border agency Frontex, which aims to increase the operational capabilities of the Greek Coast Guard.
