Prime minister Antonis Samaras met with PASOK president and foreign minister Evangelos Venizelos today to brief him on his trip to Brussels. The meeting was overshadowed by the Amfiali murder.
During his meetings in Brussels, Mr. Samaras sent a message to EU partners that Greece's path to resurgence cannot contain any more fiscal measures. On his part, Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso noted that when European agencies propose the adoption of harsh meausres they are aware of the social implications, but consider the measures necessary so that at some point Greece may return to markets.
