Greek Police Crack Prescription Fraud Case

Yesterday, the Greek Police confirmed a prescription fraud case that cost the nation over 150,000 euros.

Doctors were arrested after prescribing medicines to patients that have either passed away or were not informed of their name's usage. The case held a lengthy investigation.  It determined that physicians were drafting prescriptions for dead individuals that still contained their social security numbers in an e-prescription website.

Fifty-one doctors have been identified as creating phony prescriptions in the seaman's fund, from June to August 2012. Dead IKA pensioner's held 2,585 fake prescriptions between January to March 2013, alone.
