Tsiknonpempti is here, but what is it?
Tsiknopempti is the Thursday during the Carnival, the Greek Mardi Gras, which marks the beginning of the last weekend that observing Greek Orthodox Church members are allowed to eat meat before fasting for Lent. Tsiknopempti is celebrated 11 days before Clean Monday (or Ash Monday).
