Ecumenical Patriarchate elects Metropolitan Proussis as new Archbishop of America

The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate voted unanimously to appoint Metropolitan of Proussis, Elpidoforo (Lambrianiadis) as the Archbishop of America.
Metropolitan Proussis Ellpidophoros, who is a professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, visiting professor at the famous Holy Cross School in Boston and professor at the Holy Trinity in Halki, had been among the forerunners for the succession of Archbishop Demetrius, who was led to resignation by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
