By Eleftheria Lisa Mavroukas

The Making Headway Foundation, whose purpose is to help children with brain and spinal chord tumors, will be holding an event called "Finding Hope in Music" at Cavo Lounge in Astoria, NY on Sunday, April 6th from from 5-9 pm.

Acclaimed mezzo-soprano, Lina Orfanos, a survivor and a part of this foundation, will be performing that evening for this cause. Ms. Orfanos, famous for her talented vocals in Greek, English, French, Hebrew, Italian and Spanish, has also worked with Mikis Theodorakis, who invited her to sing for him in Athens at the Herodion Theater in 2007 and Lycabettus Hill in 2010. Ms. Orfanos' studio album "Enchanted Night," released in 2007, contained Theodorakis' songs and she recently recorded "My Amor" by known Greek composer, Dimitris Maramis.

The Making Headway Foundation was established in 1996 by Maya and Edward Manley and Clint Greenbaum to provide services and support to children with cancer in order to help them physically and emotionally reintegrate with their lives.

Anyone interested in buying tickets, or making a donation to the cause, may visit the foundation's website at www.makingheadway.org.
