Greece is participating in the international military exercise "Bright Star 2018" taking place off the coast of Egypt with four F-16 fighter jets, three Apache helicopters and the frigate "Limnos" along with 60 officers, among them observers in the military base Mohamed Nagigp.

Greece and the United States are reportedly discussing the creation of a military base on the island of Karpathos in the South Aegean Sea, between Rhodes and Crete.
