Athens Airport Travels Significantly Soar
January travels to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos were in unison with last's year notable increase in air traffic growth.
Travelers to the Greek capital rose by 27.9% from January of last year, marking 975,455 passengers, according to Kathimerini. Domestic trips also experienced a 43.9% increase.
AIA delegates believe the boost resulted in both the January 25th general elections and travelers' choice to fly rather than to travel by other means to Athens.
The International Airport hosted the largest amount of fliers from January 22nd to the 27th. International flights also significantly increased by 19.6% from January 2013 to January 2014.
