United Nation's RSC-Salus Wellness Network Holds Mens Health Panel and Fair In Light Of Prostate Cancer Month

The United Nation’s Recreational Staff Council’s Salus Wellness Network in recognition of Prostate Cancer Month, hosted a Men’s Health Panel and Fair at the United Nations which offered Free PSA Testing for Men.

The panel discussion hosted prominent Doctors that offered information about Men’s health risks and an array of information for prevention of diseases. The President of the Salus Wellness Network, Susana Bastarrica, and her board, is focused on raising awareness about the health of our planet and our society. 

The panel was coordinated and moderated by media and health professional, Yanna Darilis.

Joining the panel were: Dr.Konstandinos Plestis,System Chief of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Lankenau Heart Institute, part of Main Line Health, spoke about the leading cause of death in men, Cardiovascular Disease and Strokes. Dr. David Samadi, Chairman of Urology and leading Prostate Cancer Surgeon at Lenox Hill, who also donated the PSA Testing and spoke about how Prostate Cancer is rising, and that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Dr. Leonid Poretsky, Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Associate Chairman for Research, and Director of the Gerald J. Friedman Diabetes Institute of Lenox Hill Hospital, who explained; that men are dealing with Endocrinological threats, Obesity, Hypogonadism, Erectile Dysfunction and Diabetes today. Christopher Mango, Doctor of chiropractic explained how stress affects the body.

The panel also wanted to raise awareness on the GBM community,  Dr. Perry Halkitis,Dean and Professor of Biostatistics and Social and Behavioral Health Sciences at the School of Public Health at Rutgers University, spoke about the risk factors that the GBM community is facing the risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS and have higher rates of suicide.

Registered Dietitian, Ryan Turner, wanted to share his expertise on how modifying our diet is a pathway towards a healthier life. Turner is an experienced cardiac dietitian having worked at one of the nation’s leading centers for cardiology and heart surgery, and has worked closely with interdisciplinary health care teams to develop dietary strategies to support cardiovascular disease, surgical recovery, diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, malnutrition, obesity, weight loss, and GI disorders, explained how the diet is the root to many health problems.
