Sewol Ferry Completely Submerged Underwater

  • Written by

Today, Sewol ferry traveler's family members, offered DNA samples to the search team.

Ongoing rescue efforts prevailed concerning Wednesday's capsizing catastrophe, that has confirmed the death of 33 passengers. According to the South Korean coast guard, divers scanned a third deck, where they found more bodies. However, only three new bodies were recovered, of the 270 that still remain missing.

As New Greek TV reported yesterday, the ferry's captain Lee Joon Seok has been arrested over the way he handled the sinkage. Prosecutor Lee Bong-chang declared,
"Mr. Lee is charged with causing the Sewol ship to sink by failing to slow down while sailing the narrow route and making (a) turn excessively". If found guilty, Seok faces five years to life behind bars. A boat technical has also been charged on similar accounts.

Tragically, yesterday marked the Sewol ferry's complete submersion underwater. Until Thursday, a portion of the vessel's blue and white hull could still be seen above the Yellow Sea's chilly waters. According to CNN, Maritime Police confirmed that the ship sunk an additional 10 meters overnight. Today's quest involved 176 boats, 652 divers and 28 aircrafts. Hopes have faded on finding any passengers that still remain alive, in the horrific South Korean tragedy.
