Greek Start-Ups Experience Decline

The amount of Greek business start-ups has decreased by 20% in the first six months of 2015, as confirmed by General Commercial Register information.

The number of start-ups that are not currently registered also experienced a dip in the first half of the year, in comparison to last year. However, experts determined that this may have occurred within the last ten days, due to closed banks and the implementation of capital controls.

The General Commercial Register's statistics revealed that between January 1st to June 30th, 16,095 companies were established, compared to 20,110 during the same 2014 time period. The decline peaked in February, which held a yearly 32.6% figure, according to Kathimerini.
