Promising Greek Labor Ministry Statistics

The Greek Labor Ministry's Ergani database revealed that the net flow of new jobs was the highest its been in March, since 2001.

However, the statistic was smaller concerning employment, than in February.

Hirings were higher than firings by 14,567 salaried jobs; making a total of 40,876 jobs for the first quarter of 2014. In March of 2013, the balance of hirings was 8,950 jobs and 2013's first quarter was negative by 8,838 jobs. The Ergani collection was initially implemented last year. Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis recently commented on the "...crucial use of this innovative system".

The Labor Ministry stated that the amount of hirings for last month, compared to the same period of last year, was at 43,991. Yet, a heavy component of hiring growth is due to more pliable labor forms and rotational or part-time work. In the January to March period, 134,767 were rotational or part-time jobs and 142,767 were full-time, out of a total of 277,362 hirings.
