Athenian Hotels Experience Occupancy Increase

In April, Athenian hotels held the highest occupancy rate increase, in all of Europe, as reported by STR Global.

According to Kathimerini, STR's analysis found that Athens' rate rose 17.3% and finalized at 64.9%. A crucial element of the study was that Greek Easter fell in April this year, compared to last year's May Easter.

Istanbul felt the largest decrease in hotel bookings, that fell 12.2%.  Greek hotels additionally experienced the second largest year-on-year rise, that gained an average of 23.7%, at 59.5 euros.

However, hotel rates in the Greek capital are less than the European Union's 69.70 euro average. In March, Greek tourism figures increased by 26.1% with 457,000 travelers, according to the National Bank of Greece.
