Greek Economic Policy Ideology Won't Change

Yesterday, Greece's new Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis claimed that the economic policy's ideology will not change.

He stated, "...we must see the problems of households and enterprises... but the Finance ministry must also see the numbers and that budgets must be balanced", as reported by ANA-MPA.

Addressing reporters after his swearing-in ceremony, Hardouvelis commented, "...the economy is stabilising. We are not where we were two years ago. We move forward to a positive cycle and the next months we will see growth coming at last". He called for an increase in Hellenic citizen's salaries.

The new Financial Minister declared that Greece should be characterized by production and not consumption. He called on financial institutions to assist in the revamp of the monetary private sector, while the public sector is his duty to improve.

Outgoing Finance Minister Yiannis Stournaras stated his support of Hardouvelis to the press, "...will guard Thermopylae, the achievements made so far".
