Finance Ministry Plans Mandate Modifications

The Greek government has planned to modify its economic mandates, that primarily concern taxes.

The amendments will comply with instructed policies by troika and will go into effect in 2015, as reported by Kathimerini. Regarding current controversy over a reversal of judge salary cuts and pensions, Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras stated that the same would happen to the law enforcement and military sectors.

The Alternate Finance Minister stated to Parliament, "There will be adjustments in due course". He did not elude to just how much of their salaries would be paid back; it is thought that approximately 650 million euros will be needed to cover the paybacks. Staikouras added that the government plans to: "....examine ways to cover the fiscal gap that will invariably be created".
