Layoffs and loans top agenda of troika talks

Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis presented Greece's economic progress to troika representatives of Greece's lenders at a meeting in Paris on Tuesday evening.
Today, Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of the public sector and promised, "as of 2015 there will be no layoffs", as reported by ANA-MPA.
Approximately 15,000 Greek public employees should have been laid off in 2013 and 2014, according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Greek government and the Troika of international lenders. From these 15,000, approximately 8,500 layoffs have already been carried out and the remaining 6,500 must be implemented within the next six months.
