Social insurance fund heads, brokerage executives, and bankers got hefty prison sentences by an Athens Criminal Appeals Court on Thursday in the so-called structured bonds scandal, but were let go pending trial at a second level, ANA-MPA reports.

New auxiliary pension cuts are being applied to Greeks social security funds this summer, due to the "zero deficit clause", between the Hellenic government and its global lenders.

According to Ethnos newspaper, an ambitious government plan places all 7 million insured citizens into just three Social Security Funds, responsible for all pensions and gratuity.
