Missing passport delays former minister’s release from prison

Former defence minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos stayed in prison one more day on Tuesday as his lawyers searched for their client’s old passport, which has to be submitted to the authorities before he is released, sources from his environment said on Tuesday.

Former minister Tsohatzopoulos to be released from jail

Jailed former minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos has managed to raise the 200,000 euros that he needs to post bail and, barring any surprises, will be released from prison on Friday afternoon. Even though Tsohatzopoulos succeeded in raising the amount on Thursday, his release was delayed for bureaucratic reasons and he will be spending one more night in the Korydallos prison hospital wing.
