"Baskets" Stars Zach Galifianakis

FX television network has picked up ten episodes of the comedy "Baskets", that stars Greek-American funnyman Zach Galifianakis.

The series is executively produced and co-created by award winning Galifianakis, recently Emmy honoree Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel. The plot of "Baskets" centers around character Chip Baskets played by Galifiankis, who follows his dream of working as a professional clown. After being rejected by a Parisian clown school, Baskets is forced to join a local rodeo.

FX Networks and FX Productions Original Programming President Eric Schrier described the comedian's role as, "To say Zach's portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can't wait for the world to meet him", as reported by CNN.

Schrier further commented, "Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show". "Baskets" is set to start production in 2015 and is predicted to debut in 2016.

Galifianakis' family hails from Crete. The entertainer discusses his ethnicity often, even joking to Comedy Central: "I'm Greek, and I have sinus problems. And I know why: my body produces feta cheese. It's not really a joke; it's just a fact".

The Greek-American comic is the winner of 2010's Hollywood Film Festival's Comedy Award and the MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance in "The Hangover". The actor has been nominated for a plethora of other accolades, including two Emmy Awards. Zach Galifianakis' "Between Two Ferns" interview with U.S. President Barack Obama went viral earlier this year.
