November '15 Brings Largest Greek Exhibit to America Ever!

Chicago's Field Museum has just announced its new exhibition, "The Greeks: From Agamemnon to Alexander the Great", that will premiere in November 2015.

It will display ancient Greek culture and artifacts. According to the Chicago Tribune, Field Museum Archeologist Bill Parkinson described, "Part of developing this show this time was to really hit a home run, to really bring in a blockbuster show that has no precedent in the United States, in North America, about ancient Greece'".

The show is being curated by Parkinson, along with the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the National Geographic Society and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports. He added, "I will tell you that some of my colleagues in Greece have actually said that 'you're emptying out some of the finest parts of our museums".

The exhibit will be on display next June at Quebec's Canadian Museum of History, before hitting America. The display was announced yesterday, and will contain four exhibitions, that includes showcases in Washington, D.C.'s National Geographic Society.

Field Museum President Richard Lariviere stated, "We get to funnel that energy, the interest, the support, the enthusiasm of the entire Greek community, which is a really important part of the city, through the National Hellenic Museum into this effort".

"The Greeks: From Agamemnon to Alexander the Great", is considered the biggest exhibit ever to reach North America, concerning ancient Hellenic artifacts. Parkinson commented, "I can't emphasize how big this show is...Most traveling shows have 100, certainly fewer than 200, objects in them. Here we're dealing with 570. It's a massive, massive show".
